"and if they do not respond to thee, then know that they are following their own opinions; and who can be more misguided than one who follows his own opinion against the guidance from God?Indeed, God does not guide the wicked people"(28:50)This verse makes it clear that there is only two ways, and no third possibility exists: either to submit to God and his messenger--peace be upon him,--or else to follow Jahiliyyah-. If the law given by God is not made the arbiter, then naturally one will deviate from it. After this clear and decisive injunction from God most High, there is no room for any controversy or excuse-making.
